Oh hi!
I apologize for disappearing for over a month with pretty much no explanation. If you follow me on Instagram, however, you would have quickly realized there is, in fact, a legitimate explanation: after graduating from my MBA program in mid-May, I went on a solo trip to the land of koalas and kangaroos and beaches (and then Thailand) for a month. In the whirlwind of planning and packing before the trip, I didn’t manage to update the blog…but I’m about to make up for it in the form of major trip recap posts!
I actually didn’t set out with the intention of a solo trip but when plans suddenly didn’t line up with a friend I was hoping to travel with, I booked my tickets anyway since this was really my last chance to do some significant travel before starting work.
I traveled solo once before for a three-week independent study in Paris in college, but this time around–maybe because I was older, maybe because it was farther–it felt different. It completely converted me into a solo travel believer and lover. Not only does it open you up to more opportunities to meet interesting and fun strangers that you’d never otherwise meet, but it also allows you to do whatever you want according to your own schedule. It’s exhausting, wonderful, stimulating, terrifying, exhilarating, challenging and was, overall, a complete growth experience.
I chose Australia and Thailand because (1) they were about as far away from the U.S. I could get, (2) I love the beach and (3a) a surf camp in Australia and (3b) Thai food!!–but more on Thailand later.
Suffice it to say I have major heart eyes for Australia, and I’m bursting to share my experiences because I think it’s just an amazing country and travel opportunity. I’ll be back to food posts soon!

I love solo traveling! I’m doing Germany on my own this September. I definitely believe it’s so eye opening to be able to explore on your own, and so glad you got to do it! I been insta-stalking you to see what all the adventures are!

OMG YES Oktoberfest??? I was thinking about trying to meet up with my friend then, but I don’t know if it’s going to happen…ugh isn’t solo traveling the best? I feel like you are probably the champion of solo traveling!!
